This was taken at the build site we worked at yesterday and Tuesday. Actually, there were two build sites, but this is where I spent most of my time working. It was just an empty foundation, which we prepped for a concrete floor and future first floor. That entailed knocking off tie rods (which hold the formwork in place while the concrete sets), laying down a vapor barrier, placing insulation on the basement floor and outside walls, and installing the first pieces of wood around the top perimeter (where I'm standing). Now its all set. At the other site, we were working on a pretty steep roof, prepping it for shingles. So I suppose, yesterday I was on a bit of a high, both in terms of where I was working and how i was feeling. It was pretty awesome. We got a lot of work done for both projects, though if we had come when they had more work for us, I think we could have done much more Not quite as rewarding as the work I did in New Orleans, but there, of course, we had five days to get a lot of work done.
Today was a 50 miler...still not up to our average 70 miles, but this one was a toughie. We had rain and a tough, tough uphill climb...and, of course, the rain picked up as we got to the big uphills. At the end, I was soaked, upset, and hungry...thankfully, they have a really good restaurant and cafe/book shop here. We're in Rochester, VT, a small town full of really interesting people. Its funny, there isn't much rural poverty here, and everyone seems really insanely down to earth. Organic, vegan, reproductive rights, and farming are big here, which all make for delicious fare.
I need to go...people (on the trip) are not being very nice. I think we all had a bad day, and we're rubbing of poorly on one another. Now I just don't feel like writing anymore. To Silver Bay, NY tomorrow....and another difficult ride.

Hoo Ha! Hope you didn't do any cow tipping, which I hear is an old Vermont tradition! Awesome pic, the wispy cloud windswept backdrop is great counterpoint to concretedustswept a la Sean!! Pedal and hammer on, my man! Good Stuff, your fan club is proud!
